Explore block-printing techniques and printing directly from plants to personalize clothing or linens for your home. Finding inspiration in the simple shapes and potential for patterning found in leaves and other botanicals, we’ll start by planning individual elements and repeating designs and will discuss how to organize your workspace for efficiency when printing. Learn basic lino-cutting techniques to carve interesting fabric stamps from soft linoleum blocks and get tips about using block printing inks when printing your stamps and real leaves onto fabric – no heat-setting required. Participants will take home their hand-carved soft-cut blocks, their hand-printed textiles and the knowledge of how to print more at home!
*Participants are asked to bring their own textile items of choice to print on - give old fabrics new life or enhance new items with your hand-carved stamping blocks.
In this course you’ll learn:
How to personalize & enhance textile items with hand-stamped images of your own design.
